It's The Little Things.....

that make life BIG!! It sure is!! And this little boy, definitely does it for me!!

Needless to say, I'm talking about my grand-son Mason!! Going to see him in 7 days!! I'm so excited, and I just can't wait!! Of course, I'm excited to see my daughter and SIL too!!

Love that pic!! Speaking of......it was taken by my son Kevin!! Check out his blog and his shop at Artist Rising. And I love how he had this pic printed. The paper is metallic and it just gives this ethereal look to the pics. You can't see it here, but trust me, if you want something different, go to Adorama, and have just 1 black & white picture printed on this paper......you won't regret it!!

Anyways..........I used tons of products from Tim Holtz, from papers, to Idea-ology pieces, to dies, to inks, to stamps! I love it. It's not my usual girlie frou-frou, romantic chic layouts, that I so love to do. But, this grungy minimal look is growing on me, and it's perfect for little or big boy layouts!

A few closeups......

This weathered clock diecut turned out amazing. It's rusty and grungy. I used Distress Stains in Vintage Photo, Broken China & Rusty Hinge for the base. Followed by Distress Crackle Paint, and more Vintage Photo over top. Almost looks like the rust is ready to peel off!!

Spellbinders dies from Fleur De Lis & Fancy Tags Two, were used as the base for my masculine rosette flower. A few charms from my stash, dangle from a Timmy pin.

Alcohol ink in Stream was used over the pen nib and the button.

Alphas by My Mind's Eye were grunged up with Vintage Photo and Broken China DI.

Yep, it's growing on me!! I'm definitely going to make more of these layouts!!

Lots of fussy cutting done here, with gorgeous Kaisercraft paper. This is a pic of Kevin's long-time girlfriend, Arelys. Isn't she beautiful? And smart too!!

I used lots of products from past Swirlydoos kits, on this LO. Another minimal layout for me. Though it does have that romantic chic look to it. Just one closeup here.....

So that's it for today! Hopefully I won't make you wait another 2 weeks, for more projects!! Actually, I've been photoshopping my little heart out, and now have another 10 projects to share with you!! I really have to start doing that right after I make my layouts! I think that I just don't have the patience for it, so I keep putting it off, until the pile gets so big, that I really don't have a choice but to get to work!! LOL

All Boy

I realized a couple of days ago, that I totally forgot to post the LO I made for The Color Room #102. I really don't know what I was thinking.....well yeah, I do.....last week I had to work overnight for 3 days, something I haven't done in over a year! By the time they called me in the first day, it was too late to get any sleep. And the next 2 weren't much better. I think I slept a total of 11 hours in those three days!!

Anyways...............here we go...........

As much as I enjoy traditional layouts, I'm really beginning to love the mixed media look!! I won't go into lots of details and specifics here, I'm getting ready to head to bed. So, if you have any questions, just leave me a comment below, and I'll be glad to answer.

Drips are made with Ranger Colorwash Sprays....LOVE!!!! The Making Memories staples are from about 100 years ago, but they coordinate perfectly!!

A while back, my DIL Carol and I were sharing funny stories, and of course I had to include some of my youngest son Dan (her hubby). I was telling her that one day I was a little perplexed, because Dan had the broom out......definitely NOT normal for him. Anyways, I asked him what he was doing. "Mom, I'm brooming!" I laughed so hard at him!! Of course I had to explain that it's called sweeping and not brooming......he just didn't quite understand that one!!

Back to my conversation with Carol......she thought that, that would make a good LO, or at least a funny one!! Naturally, I told her to get me some pics!! Poor Dan!!

Brooming

The challenge this month at I Am Roses, is to use the colors, green, gold and glitter, with a Spring or St. Patrick's Day theme. You also had to use at least 2 different I Am Roses products.

Since this LO was made for the March Challenge at I Am Roses, I thought that I would tell you about the flowers first. I used my absolute faves here.....the Big Gardenias - yellow (GB4-142), which I misted with LSG Starburst Sprays in Glory of the Seas Gold and one in Wake Me Up Before You Go Gold. There are gorgeous Daisies (D1-15) and Cherry Blossoms (S3-152), on which I used LSG Embossing Powder in Midnight Pewter Obsidian. Of course I added some Green Leaves (ZQ-LO-0) and black Skeleton Leaves (KI-275).

All of these gorgeous flowers are layered over papers by My Mind's Eye (there's my glitter) and Authentic. As well as a Journaling tag by Recollections and a postcard from Making Memories.

In this closeup, you can see just how gorgeous these flowers are....and why they're my faves!!! And you can see the shimmer of the LSG Starburst Sprays. I also added a bit of Distress Stickles in Crushed Olive on the green leaves. The little transparency butterflies are from K&Co. The bingo piece is Maya Road.

An Art Warehouse rubon expresses my (minimal) journaling. I purposefully used 2 different alphas, to drive the point home, on my title. Alphas are Cosmo Cricket and Rebecca Sower/Sticko. Of course that's a Tim Holtz diecut just below the pic....Iron Gate.

To round out the LO, I also added 2 wood flourishes from Kaisercraft, which I painted in Licorice by Folk Art/Plaid. I also layered some T!m pen nibs over top. And more T!m Idea-ology pieces, this time the clock, spinners and brads are tucked next to my journaling.

I had a blast making this LO, and completing this project for the March Challenge. So, go check out the I Am Roses Blog, and while you're at it, go pick up some of their gorgeous flowers here.

Timeless

So I was supposed to do a vid of my scrap/craft room......it didn't happen! And for very good reason.....my son & his girlfriend are coming next week!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see them both!!!! Kevin, is the photographer of many of the pics I use in my LOs. I haven't had any of his pics for quite a while, as he's been in Puerto Rico for a year and half! Anyways, I've been cleaning, and organizing, and making preparations for their visit, sooooo, I promise, I will do the video as soon as I can!! BTW, we just found out they were coming, last weekend!!

My daughter Ashley.....I love this pic of her!! Would you believe that I didn't write down everything I used for this LO! And it's been quite a while since I made it, so I'll do my best to tell you which products were used.

Of course BoBunny papers, and Coredinations carstock, which I sanded. I think the white cardstock is actually watercolor paper. I used the Spellbinders Lace Doily Motifs to cut the corner pieces. I just cut one in half diagonally, and stuck each piece in the left side corners. Here's a closeup...........

I love the look of the sanded cardstock!! So grungy and vintagey chic!!!

Some BoBunny accent pieces. The flower was made with the Lace Doily Accents. I used the edge piece, and snipped the bottom, and then glued it to a circle. I layered the cardstock, watercolor paper, BoBunny papers and a flower from I Am Roses, to make  it.

I was pretty impressed with how it turned out. It was my first time doing this, and I'll definitely do it again!

The title was typed onto watercolor paper, and cut with the Lace Doily Accent label, and layered over another accent piece, which was also sanded. I added a T!m Holtz clock face, and some flourishes, which I think were BoBunny cardstock stickers? I think.

All of the flowers and skeleton leaves are from I Am Roses. My faves are the gardenias and cherry blossoms!! But those curly roses are fast becoming a new fave!

The One About The Hose

This is as simple an LO as you'll ever see from me!! Definitely not my style, but it turned out pretty cool. I was having such a hard time photographing this LO, cause I layered a transparency from Dynamic over SEI paper....and no matter what angle I took the picture from, I would get glare. Ugh!!!!!!!!! If you look at the top middle portion, you can see the green leaves of the SEI paper....that's what the whole thing looks like. It's a very cool LO, I just can't show it to you that way!! Here's a closeup of the top section....it'll give you a better idea...............

The story behind this LO, is that my daughter Ashley & my grand-son Mason were here visiting us for a few weeks. On a Sunday afternoon, when my son Dan & his wife Carol came for dinner, one of our neighbors became ill, and paramedics were called. Well, Mason had to see the BIG trucks (here they also send a firetruck with the medics). So Dan took Mason out to the street so he could get a better view. Well the ambulance left, and the guys got into the firetruck, and pulled up to our driveway!! They got out, and asked Mason if he wanted to go inside and look around!!! They showed him everything, including the hose. Needless to say Mom was out there taking pics, well...............yep, they turned the hose on her (not hard). Of course Mason got a big kick out of this!!!! And I got some awesome pics!! Just wish I had one of Ashley getting sprayed!!! LOL

I think that's all for now!! I'm almost finished showing you projects from January!!!! And I still have to take pics of the about 10 more I've completed recently!!

White Sands

If you read my last blog post, you'll remember that I mentioned I'd been re-organizing. I also said that I wasn't ready to take everything out and start over again. Well........right after I posted that, I started looking around my studio.......and........of course.....I had to figure out a way to make it work. At least make it work better, and still have some floor space! LOL It took me a full day of playing with graph paper and little furniture cut-outs, before I came up with a grand plan.

The very next morning around 6am, I started moving everything out!! It took about 8 hours, not counting breakfast & lunch, to get it all moved around. And now I just love it!! It's got a better layout, and there's floor space! I'm missing one small table that I want to use as part of my L-shaped desk. I actually ordered it from Target, got my confirmation, etc. and 3 days later, I got an email from them saying they'd cancelled my order! Ugh!!! Apparently they were out of stock. Really? They weren't out of stock when I ordered it!!!! I'm pretty bummed about it. So I'll keep looking around, and see what else I can find.

Anyways.......here's another LO that I completed right after Christmas. Yeah, I'm behind in posting!

White Sands

Paper is Prima and Webster's Pages, with lots of distressing and layering. Cardstock is from Bazzill. Doily is, of course from Wilton!

Not a great pic, but, the chippie is from Kaisercraft. It's slathered in Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Sprays (Cosmopolitan Pink & A Bit 'o Bubbly) and T!m's Distress Inks  in Antique Linen and Tattered Rose, some Halo Pink-Gold Lumiere paint, Espresso Dimensional Pearls from Ranger and Stickles in Fruit Punch. I typed up my Title and glued it behind the chippy, after spraying with LSG Sprays.

I've used a Prima Antique Mirror over a Prima Flocked Rubon, and a K&Co diecut under the mat.

 

The
The floral spray is from Recollections. The newspaper leaves are also from Recollections, misted with My Mojito Green from LSG. The large white bloom is handmade from an old curtain, a scrap and a button cover, and one Prima flower center. I love that the fabric is fraying, it just adds to the overall effect. The pink ledger paper (Prima) doily was cut with the Floral Doily Motif from Spellbinders.

Here's a closeup of the flower. You can also see a bit of the stamping I've done with a Hampton Arts stamp, and Memento ink in Rich Cocoa. Pink roses are Prima. The little red blossoms were in one of my Swirlydoos Kits. The small green leaves are I Am Roses.

The birthday card I made for my oldest, Kevin.  Pretty simple. Lots of T!m products and a pleasant surprise! The red on the clock face is not intentional......it's a by-product of painting over black chipboard!!! Love it!!!!

I think I've been challenged......by PJ, to actually make some videos. Go check out her new blog, and watch some interesting AND funny vids!!! So.......I'm going to attempt it next week when I'm off. We'll see how it works with a point-and-shoot camera! Hahahahaha

What DO YOU Do?

In the last couple of months, I've spent a fair bit of time going through all of my scrappy products and stash. I've given a bunch to my daughter, who lost most of her papers in a small flood in her house. And I gave a lot to my DIL Carol. I kept the things that I really loved and wanted. I organized and re-organized until, I don't think that I can change anything in my craft room studio, without taking everything out, and starting all over again. Ugh, I'm not ready to do that.

So, what do you do? Really what DO YOU do, when you have a bunch of little diecuts and chippy flowers, and tags, and misc papers that are as old as the hills, and seemingly don't go together, but you love them and don't want to part with them? Of course you scrap with them, and so do I. But, how much of it do you really use up? Yeah me too! So........

I challenged myself to use up a bunch of little bits and pieces on one layout. Of course, it did help that most of the bits, actually matched the colors in the pic! Check it out.....

Your Smile Warms My Heart

Love this pic of Mason, taken by my oldest Kevin! Check out his shop at Artist Rising!! He has gorgeous photos, and abstract art originals and prints for sale.

Papers are Imaginisce, Basic Grey, K&Co, My Mind's Eye and Teresa Collins. Normally, I probably wouldn't have put these papers together, but it works. I used my Martha Stewart circle cutter, and punches to make all of the circles. The small scalloped circles, were cut in half (I didn't have enough paper to go around!), and then layered them under the larger circles. Then, I added a ton of black Kaisercraft rubons all over the page to give it some cohesiveness. Is that a word?

The vine diecut was made with a Quickutz die, and the little scalloped oval was made with a Spellbinders die and a Basic Grey sticker.

So here's where the bits & pieces come into play. I used some chippy flowers from K&Co, a Recollections rose, a few more flowers from SEI, and some chippies & felties from Sassafras Lass and layered them over each other in 2 seperate clusters. The ticket is T!m's and the paper whimsies are also Sassafras Lass.

I really think that this LO was more challenging than my retro romantic vintage chic, layered concoctions are!! Okay, maybe it is layered!! It took me hours to place those damned flowers on there....it wasn't easy trying to blend the colors, and not have the same shape/color flower right next to it! And getting the right layered combination of papers wasn't much easier, especially when you figure that some were just scraps!

It isn't my usual, it's not my fave, the colors are just too bright for my liking. But I like it, AND I had fun doing it. And most of all, I got rid of a ton of teeny, tiny little bits! I'll definitely have to do this again....I have a bunch of journaling tags and more odds and ends, that are just begging to be used up. 

The great thing about this, is that I'm continuing last year's scrappy resolution.......to use a least one 'old as the hills' item on each LO and project that I make! At the rate I'm going now.......my daughter and daughter-in-law, will still have plenty to choose from, when I'm gone! Hahahahaha!! Hey, I'm working on it!

So.... I challenge YOU to use up your old bits & pieces, and faves that you just can't part with!

Emotion For TCR #95

So it's been a long time since I joined in on the fun at The Color Room. Actually, it hasn't been all that long ago, it's just that I didn't upload my projects in time.....see post below. I love their color challenges, and they ARE challenging. Sometimes the challenge is the color combo, sometimes it's finding an appropriate pic, and sometimes, I just don't have any papers that would match. Well, I can rectify the latter......I've started Art Journaling & doing some Mixed Media projects, so I think that I can paint, mist, collage, chalk, and/or ink, my way into these weekly challenges! More on that further down this post.

So here's my LO, entitled EMOTION

The gorgeous background paper is from the new 'Engraved Garden' collection by K&Co. I saw these on their site about a month ago, and I've been stalking my local Michaels ever since! LOL I finally got a hold of them about a week ago, and I did purchase both the Designer & the Specialty paper collections. Of course I bought their diecuts too, and they are pretty much gone already....guess I'll have to make another trip to Michaels!

Back to the LO, here's what I did. First, I misted the background with some Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Sprays in Cocklebells Coral & Green With Envy Green. Next I tilted my paper to make drips, and then I took the sprayer out of the bottle, and just shook it over my paper, to make the splotches. I did use a paper towel to remove the excess paint, and I let it air dry. I think you get a more concentrated color if you do that. Heat drying seems to lighten the color a bit. Once dry, I took out my Sakura Pigma Micron (01) pen, and started doodling around the drips and splotches. I totally love this technique, and I lifted it from the very talented Milliande, go check out her You Tube channel!! So awesome, especially for someone like me, who can't draw a straight line!!

You can see the technique much better on this closeup. It's so nice to be able to doodle, and find freedom in it....even on my layouts! Okay, I'm sure most of you already do this, but for me it's new!! The lovely alphas are....Pink Paislee......surprise!!!

The doily is by Royal lace, and misted with....LSG Green With Envy Green....okay if you don't know, or haven't used LSG's products, you are slower than I am....go check them out here. Love their mists and micas, and embossing powders!!! When I do a craft room video.....you'll see how much I love their products! The wood heart is from Michaels, and is painted red (Delta Ceramcoat), and covered in Martha Stewart garnet glitter. The beautiful flowers are from I Am Roses....another fave!! Check them out here. Yes, I still LOVE my Primas, but I love these mulberry flowers too! And the great thing, is that I can mist them in any color I want!!! Which I did with the gardenias.....just a bit of Cocklebells Coral and a touch of Poincianna Red Flame in the center! And edged with Barn Door Distress Stickles.

The leaves are cut from T!m's Tattered Leaves die on watercolor paper...another fave! Next, I stamped them with Memento Jet Black in and a background stamp from All Night Media. And misted with Cocklebells Coral, Edelweiss Moss Green, and Green With Envy Green, and edged with Distress Ink in Peeled Paint. These turned out so beautiful, and they just sparkle with glimmer!! The feathers are from Michaels. One more.....

I wish you could see the glimmer on the leaves!! So Gorgeous!!

About the Art Journaling/Mixed Media projects.....well here's where I started......

I purchased this Atlas, at one of my local thrift shops, initially to use the pages inside....I might have to take some sheets out, I have a feeling that this journal is going to be very chunky by the time I'm done!! A while back I was looking in my stash to figure out what to use for my art journaling, and I decided that the papers in this book are thick enough for what I need. So......here's what my cover looks like now..................

I love, love, love how it turned out!! Yeah, I was a little OCD about what and how I was doing it, but I'm fine with that, since it's the cover. For the inside pages, I intend on being a little less compulsive, and do more 'letting go', and just see where it takes me. I can't wait to play some more......so I'm off to do it!!

Ok, so I'm NOT dead!

and....I haven't fallen off the scrapwagon either!! LOL It's just that life has a way of getting your attention. I work in retail, and as you know, the holiday season is big business....so there were lots of extra hours worked during that time. Then I got very sick the week of Christmas....it took me almost 3 weeks to get better, only to get it back again about a week and a half ago!! So in all, I was feeling good for about a week or so!! Not fun! During the 'well' time, I planned on updating this blog.....but the weather would not co-operate with me, so that I could get pics done!! I really need to get a ligthbox!! If anyone knows where I can get one cheap, or how to build one (keep in mind....simple!!!), please let me know.

Anyways, I don't plan on leaving you hanging like this again, it's been way too long....so long, that I had to look up my Typepad password!! LMAO! Christmas is long gone, but my LOs aren't....so that's as good a place as any to start.......so grab a cuppa....this is going to be a long one! Oh, I almost forgot, the majority of the products used in these projects come from my Swirlydoos kit!!! Check them out!!

Santa, Define Good

A cute little pic of my Grand-son Mason, sitting on Santa's lap....and the only reason he went up there, was cause Santa was giving gifts out to the kids!!! Otherwise, he gets scared and cries!! This past year has been a rough one for Mom, Mason's made a few 'huge messes' that cost some big $$ to clean up!!! So this title is definitely apropos!

I love layering my papers, and the G45 and BoBunny papers were just perfect for this LO. I used a Martha Stewart snowflake punch to do Lisa's punched circle technique........love this technique! The Bingo card is my own design (minus the Santa sticker - Simple Stories), something I'm thinking about re-vamping, and putting on Etsy.

These Dusty Attic ornaments, started life as one piece. I cut them apart, and slathered them in Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in Poinsettia Red Gold. Then accented with some gold Smooch, and Snow-tex. So if you're wondering how I remember all of that....well I do write down every product I use, for each and every project I make....I've got about 2 composition books full!

My title is American Crafts Thickers....my fave chipboard alphas, also accented with some Snow-tex. The border sticker is K&Co and I sprayed it with LSG Starburst Spray In Ponderosa Pines Olive.

I shaped a gorgeous Prima floral spray into a semi-circle, glued it down, and then added some small Prima Poinsettias in between. The large green poinsettia is from Ashland (Michael's). The I Am Roses skeleton leaves, were first misted with water, and then coated in Lindy's Stamp Gang Embossing powder in King Midas Gold and embossed. The little dropplets of water actually hold the embossing powder in that shape, and it gives more texture to the leaves.....it's a real cool technique, which my pic doesn't capture very well. I have no idea who made the swirl (I didn't write that down...ugh!), but it's covered in gold Smooch  and Snow-tex. The little Santa bag sticker is also from K&Co.

All I Want For Christmas

Another cute pic of Mason, this one was taken by my DD Ashley.....I think she's got an eye for it!!

More BoBunny and Kaisercraft papers. The sheet music is vintage....love! More Martha Stewart border punching...lots of grunging of papers in Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I matted my pic, and then placed it over 2 huge snowflakes, they are real ornaments....from Walmart. The chipboard tag is from SEI.

So simple.......vintage book paper, layered over Tim Holtz/Sizzix diecut reindeer. Bling collar was in my stash, it could be Webster's Pages.

I was totally inspired by Lisa's Poinsettias, and wanted to make one for this LO. I was kickin myself for not purchasing those Spellbinders dies....cause of course, as soon as I wanted them, they were sold out everywhere! So I improvised....I found a free template online, and used that to make my smaller version. Of course I sprayed it with LSG Creme Brulee Cream, and edged it with Ranger Liquid Pearls in Bisque. The snowflakes in the center are punched from another Martha Stewart punch and misted with LSG Gator Gumbo Olive and edged in Adirondack Dimensional Pearls in Lettuce. The little pearls in the center are beads from my stash. The under petals of the flowers got the same treatment as the snowflakes.

My golden leaves are made from alcohol inked (caramel) vellum with another T!m die, and over misted with LSG Creme Brulee Cream!! If you try this technique, be careful when you heat set them (you'll need to as the spray doesn't soak in), as the paper becomes very brittle. So you'll want to scrunch your leaves first, and then let the heat take over the shape.

I also added another small poinsettia from Prima, sprayed with LSG Poinsettia Red Gold. Metal accent is from TPC Studio. Berry spray is from Petaloo. Diecut pinecones are K&Co. Little fern leaves are punched Bazzill cardstock using a Martha Stewart punch, and then inked with Ice Spruce DI. The metallic fibers around my pic is from Webster's Pages. Here's another view....

Just love how that poinsettia turned out!! It took me a few tries to get the look I wanted, but it was well worth the effect!!

So that's the only 2 Christmas LO's I've made. I plan on making a mini album with the rest of the pics (maybe another LO or 2). I have loads more to show you, but I'll space it out over the next week or so. Meanwhile I actually took pics of some new products for my Etsy store, and when I get them uploaded, I think I'll do a RAK....so stay tuned for pics!

Sweet Moments

So, I'm still having trouble leaving comments on your blogs!! But, I've got the guru working on it!!! Yep, he's stumped.....he tried everything I did, and nothing worked. Seems like it's a re-directing thing. Which means, that if your blog re-directs me to another page to leave a comment....I can!! If it doesn't re-direct me....well, that's where the problem is. Anyways, he's checking into it!! Hopefully it'll be fixed soon!

Meanwhile, here's one of my latest projects......

 
I love this pic of my grand-son!!! And not just because of his shirt!!!! LOL

Paper is Webster's Pages....love, love, love!!! I did a bit of fussy cutting (beige paper layered on the blue), and made the blue flower from Recollections cardstock, and my fave Cricut Cartridge.... Home Decor! Leaves were die cut using a Tim's Tattered Leaves die and embossed with a Sizzix folder (can't remember which one).

I used a lot of Tim products on this one, including the heart cut out of grungeboard, clock in chipboard, an ornate plate, a lot of distress ink, distress stains and alcohol inks on the WP resin heart.

Of course I had to add some flowers from I Am Roses and Making Memories. The little wood butterfly is Kaisercraft, slathered in Faded Jeans DS.  I also added a bit of glitz on the flowers and leaves, with some Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Sprays and a touch of Ranger Stickles in Black Diamond, on the edges of the clock. WP alphas make my title.

This was definitely a 'clean & simple' layout for me!! Yeah, it's true, I love lots and lots of layers, and embellies!!

Ack!! I'm having PC issues again!!! This time.....it's leaving comments on other blogs!! Ugh, need Dan my computer guru to help assist, okay, so I need him to fix it!! And to make matters worse, of course it's happening on some of my fave blogs!!

Which I'm sure begs the question 'Do you (as in me) really, actually leave comments on other blogs?' Yeah, I admit it, I am awful about doing it!! But, I'm trying to change!!! Call this my 4th quarter resolution!!

And by the way, if I can't leave you a comment (see above), I'll send you an email via mine (mymadkow@live.com) so that you know I'm trying!! LOL

And here is my take.....

 
I kinda got carried away with the theme, but it works! Love this papers from Prima. Cardstock is Bazzill. I felt that the pic needed some matting, so I found an old transparency (unkown) to layer on top of it, and then I layed the whole thing over some BoBunny cardstock, which I promptly punched the edges of....Martha Stewart, of course. Really, is there any other punch that compares?

 
All of that gorgeous lace (unkown) is little leftover bits that I saved from other projects. I did color the darker piece with Distress Stains in Vintage Photo!!! So love that stuff!! I can't believe that I put off buying any because I thought that it was redundant to have the inks and the stains!! The grungeboard wing is Tim Holtz, slathered in Distress Inks and Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in Dark Chocolate Truffle. Oh, and my pic is definitely NOT capturing all of the shimmer from the spray!!

It's not very often that I recommend products, but if you haven't tried the LSG sprays, you are SO missing out!! Gorgeous colors, full of shimmery goodness!! And awesome prices too!!! Check them out here. I promise if you try these, you'll never look back at the others!! I actually gave all of my other mists to my DD & my DIL.

I took a Glitzer (transparent sticker) from Glitz Designs, and adhered it to a small piece of packaging. I wanted to be able to use it without having to stick it down. The My Mind's Eye alphas were painted with Lumiere paint in Halo Pink Gold and then sprayed with Ramblin' Rose Red from LSG.

Other products include a Tattered Angels alpha frame, and a BoBunny butterfly trinket. The gorgeous flower is Prima, the mini roses are Recollections, sprayed with LSG, and the tiny alphas are Cosmo Cricket.

Divas at SEI's Link Party #13

Hi everyone!! I know it's been a while since I've posted. I've been sick, and haven't really done much of anything!! Very little scrapping!! Anyways, I do feel much better, and have started working on some layouts and a few Halloween projects.

Including this little number, which I'm linking up with SEI.

 
 Love these papers, taken from 3 different collections.  The white background is from 'White Elegance', the pink is from 'A Fair Day', and the black polka-dot is from 'Moonrise'. All of them are either pearlized or foil papers. They are gorgeous!!

 
The large flower is Recollections. The leaves were cut using a Tim Holtz die and then embossed, and spritzed with Lindy's Stamp Gang spray in Wake Me Up Before You Go Gold. The chipboard frame, was grey with foil highlights....which I promptly colored with my Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Black Soot. Little flowers are paper, and are also from different collections of SEI.

 
These butterflies are stunning, and they were white....until I colored them with DS in Black Soot & Worn Lipstick. These were also from the White Elegance Collection. Bling is from my stash.

If you look closely, right on top of the doily, you'll see a peek-a-boo of a small piece of pink paper that I diecut, using Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Motifs.

 
On the left of the pic, you'll find another chipboard piece that was altered a la Tim. The diecut just below the title, is Vintage Pewter Accents from the Couture collection. Alphas are My Mind's Eye.

My pictures definitely do not capture the beauty of SEI's papers. You have got to check them out here. And they always have sales going on. This week, it's the Moorise collection.......my absolute fave!!! I'm thinking about buying another set!!

Unscripted For Scrapbudz

Hi everyone!! Sharing my newest LO for Scrapbudz. This month our challenge was to create an LO using brown cardstock as the base, and this image.....

 How gorgeous is that!!!!

So here's my take, using a pic of my DIL Carol on her wedding day. Love this pic, and have used it many times over!!! BTW, she's not overly fond of it!

 

First thing I did was to turn the pic to sepia tones in Photoshop Elements, and then printed on watercolor paper......this makes for a gorgeous combination!!

I used Bazzill cardstock as my base. Then punched (Martha Stewart) some pearlized cardstock, from The Paper Studio, for the edges and then backed that with SEI paper, from their Couture collection. I also punched some 2" squares from the same paper, and rounded 2 opposing corners. I wanted the squares to have some added texture, without being too busy. I embossed them in an abstract manner, using one of my fave stamps from Stampendous, and some Ranger 'Seafoam White' embossing powder. Then I placed my squares in a diagonal manner down the left side of the paper. I've also used this technique before, you can see it here.

 
The Glimmer Chip (Tattered Angels) was distressed with Antique Linen Distress Ink from Timmy, and then I spritzed it with Opal Sea Oats Starburst Spray from Lindy's Stamp Gang. I backed the opening with a scrap of pp, typed up my title, and punched it out with an EK Success punch.

Those gorgeous I Am Roses gardenias, also got a spritz. Love the skeleton leaves, they add more texture, without the added weight of normal leaves. I have no idea where I got that little shell charm, but it's perfect for this page, and of course, was the only one I had!!!

 
I used a piece of burlap (Michael's) as the base to place my embellies on, and topped it with some gorgeous lace (stash) and ribbon from Hobby Lobby. The sand.......something that's been in my stash for at least a year is 'Tahiti Beach' from Mudd Puddles.....this stuff is amazing!!! It's my first time using it, and I'll definitely use it again!!! My pic doesn't do it justice. I embedded shells in it, that my DD & GDS picked up at the beach this past spring, and added a few sand dollars & starfish from US Shells.

 
Another Glimmer Chip, spritzed with the Opal Sea Oats (LSG), a resin flower from Jolee's Boutique and some aqua tulle (Michael's), round out the top right corner.

I'm very happy with how this LO turned out! It's not one of my 'normal' LO's......it has more of 'clean & simple' style to it. Okay....that's 'clean & simple' for me!!!

Gentle As A Lamb

Wow!!! I just realized that it's been 3 weeks since I last posted!! Ugh....that's what preparing for inventory in a big box store, will do for you!!! But now, I'm on Vacation!!!! Doing the happy dance!!!!!

So what's new? Well, I've been putting some final touches on some new items for my Etsy Shop. I worked on a few LO's including the September project for Scrapbudz. And I applied for another DT position....this time at SEI. Nope, I didn't make it. All things considered, I'm not devastated!! Not that I didn't want it!!!!

Anyways....here's one of my newest LOs......

 
Lots and lots of older products on this one!! I went a little paper crazy last week, and ordered a bunch of new Prima, Graphic 45, Authentique, Glitz, and 7 Gypsies!!! I'll have enough paper to wallpaper the entire house!!!

I love this pic of Mason....and he's doing well. Talking a mile a minute, and driving Mom crazy!! Back to the LO....papers are BoBunny, October Afternoon, K & Company, My Mind's Eye and Tim Holtz. Cardstock is Coredinations. Minimal distressing, but lots of layers. And definitely not papers that most folks would put together, but I love the eclectic look, AND I'm using up my stash!!!

 
Chipboard Iron Gate is part of a set from Dusty Attic. I used a ton of Lindy's Stamp Gang on it. Starburst Sprays in Gossamer Gold, Ramblin' Rose Red & Jack In The Pulpit Teal. If you have not tried their sprays....you are totally missing out!! And we haven't even talked about their Magical Micas & Embossing Powders yet!!

Pointing Hand stamp is Tim Holtz....colored with Prismacolor Pencils and a touch of LSG's sprays over top. Decorative trim is from Hobby Lobby. Punch is an oldie, but goodie from Martha Stewart. I used a Sizzix embossing folder, Starry Night, on the Coredinations cardstock. Diecuts are My Mind's Eye and K & Company. Grungeboard Gears are Tim Holtz, with Distress Inks and LSG sprays over top. Stickers are Doodlebug Design, and Making Memories. The little acorn is from Love, Elsie. Brads are MME, Stella & Rose. I also added some Espresso Dimensional Pearls on one of the diecuts.

Since I didn't make the SEI DT, I thought that I would start sharing some of my projects......one at a time of course!

 
This one of my DD Ashley, Mason & SIL Mike, was made using all SEI products, except for a bit of inking & embossing. See the pinky butterfly..., yep metal filigree from SEI....he was copper colored!! I used some LSG Aurora Amethyst Embossing powder over top....love it!!!!

I'll be adding the new stuff to my Etsy shop this week, and then I'm doing a RAK!!! So stay tuned!!!

"What A Wonderful World" for Scrapbudz

After a couple of months of compiler & runtime optimization errors, not to mention having issues leaving comments, not being able to get to some blogs, not seeing 'add to cart' buttons (sigh!), and then there was the 'updates' every couple of minutes (so it seemed), cause it just couldn't update with all of those issues!!......my computer is fixed!!! Gotta give my son Dan the kudos!!! He did a lot of research to figure out what would work best with Adobe Photoshop, Cricut Design Studio, my new camera, etc and then he still had to format the whole thing and start all over again!!! Now, I have Windows 7....YEAH!!!! So hated Windows Vista.....definitely not a stable operating system!!! And of course Internet Explorer 9!!! And it even works with Typepad!!!!

I Said To Myself "What A Wonderful World"

 
I love this pic of my Dad and my Grand-son Mason sitting together on the steps. Whenever, Mason would feel anxious, or wasn't sure about something, he would always go up to Grand-pa, so he could feel secure!! This pic shows one of those moments.....and that certainly gives me 'a wonderful world' feeling.

As you've probably already guessed, this months Latte & Cream Challenge was 'browns'. Love the monochromatic look......but I had to add that little G45 piece on the car.....it just needed it!! BoBunny paper is from one of my Swirlydoos kits that I sub, and some scraps from Graphic 45 & 7Gypsies.

 
Clock diecut is Tim Holtz/Sizzix, and I used chipboard from Wal-Mart. All I did was to distress it with Tim's Distress Inks in Vintage Photo & Walnut Stain. Tiny Type alphas are from Cosmo Cricket.

 
More Tim/Sizzix dies.....love this car!!! I've used this diecut so many times!! Again, I just inked it up with Tim's DIs and then misted with Starburst Sprays from Lindy's Stamp Gang. Stickers are from Rebecca Sower/Stickopotamus, The Paper Studio & Glitz. Ticket is from SEI.

 
Large alphas are from American Crafts. Large eyelets are from Dritz, and they're normally used on fabric, but I wanted the brass color, and the larger holes. Seam Binding is from Hug Snug, and is hand dyed.

Remember when I said I was going to do a RAK soon? Yeah it seems like forever ago......well I'm gearing up for it. I've got a lot of mini kits, and products made up to put in my etsy store....just have to take pics and upload!! I'll probably be doing the RAK at the end of August. Right now, we are in the middle of preparing for inventory at work.....and I'm working more. So, stay tuned..............

Imagine The Possibilities TCR #67

I am just playing everywhere this week!! These days, I'm loving to scrap along with various challenges. And I'm finally getting to play with The Color Room, and actually get my project in 'on time'!

Imagine The Possibilities

I have to admit that this one was challenging!! Besides the use of black, cement, chamois & mint green colors, which was totally outside of my comfort zone, the whole layout was just not working out the way I wanted it to. I almost gave up on it a few times!! I did walk away, and come back to it. I think it took me all day to just get on the paper, what I wanted. The problem was, that I really wasn't sure WHAT I wanted!!

 
Papers are Pink Paislee (courtesy of my Swirlydoos kit), except the green which is from The Crafter's Workshop. I used Pumice Stone Distress Ink on the Anthology paper. And then matted a Butterfly Garden paper & my pic, on some Best Occasion cardstock. Don't laugh....it was the only cardstock I had that went with my papers & the palette!!! I used a Martha Stewart punch on the edge, and added a 7 Gypsies tag, which I distressed.

 
Flowers are from Petaloo and I Am Roses, which I misted with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in Long John's Silver. The Dusty Attic chippie was inked with Distress Inks and StazOn Ink. The bling is from White Blossom. The skeleton leaves were embossed with LSG Queen Sheba Silver, and the metal leaves are Tim Holtz, and a Prima metal flower that I cut with my Tim scissors!!

 
Love the film strip ribbon by Tim!! And I definitely needed it here!! And then I added more Tim Ideology pieces.

 
I think the easiest part of this LO was the title!! And so easy!! I used, again, Best Occasion (hey! I told you not to laugh!) chipboard alphas, which I inked with Bundled Sage & Peeled Paint DI. I used a Tim stamp & StazOn Ink in Jet Black over the DI. Then added some Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish over top. And then I glued my letters together to form one long strip. The rest of my title was made using Tiny Type alphas from Cosmo Cricket.

The great part about using the Best Occasion stuff (it's from Wal-Mart, in case you didn't know) is that I'm using up my stash!!!! Since the New Year began, I've only made one project where I didn't use some older stuff!! That's pretty good!! And all things considered, I guess my purchases from 7 years ago, weren't too bad, since I am using them!! Okay, so they're coming in handy...at times!!! LOL

Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

Get Your Glitz On Challenge #4

Have you checked out the Glitz blog lately? Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!! I cannot wait for all of their new papers & embellies to come out!! But in the meantime.....I played with some of their papers from the Laced With Grace collection, courtesy of my Swirlydoos kit!! And I've decided to enter Challenge #4. The only requirement besides using some Glitz products, was to use inks & background stamps.

Lots of tearing, ripping and distressing of these gorgeous papers....so far my fave collection!! Of course, I used Tim's Distress Inks in Vintage Photo & Walnut Stain. I also used a few of my background stamps (Glitz & Tim Holtz), with Stazon Ink in Timber Brown, on my base paper. I then matted the pic of Mason, on a Glitz Paper Layer.

 
Clock & gears were cut from a Tim/Sizzix die, and left naked. Chipboard was purchased at Wal-Mart (online). I left the 'innards' of the clock and covered with another Paper Layer, this time the crossword puzzle. Part of my title was situated in the boxes, using Glitz Orange Teeny Alphas. The butterflies were cut from the papers, and Distress Stickled (green) or Crackled (black). Flowers are I Am Roses gardenias, which I misted with Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays in Tiger Lily Red Orange & Wake Me Up Before You Go Gold. Leaves are from Prima. A Glitzer was cut to form a ribbon and added under the edge of the flower.

 
I also used a Glitz Whatnot, and trimmed off the parts I wanted to use, and then inked over top with one of Tim's background stamps.

 
Heidi Swapp ghost alphas, were stamped (topside) and then alcohol inked (Ranger) on the underside, using Sunset Orange & Lettuce. A little spritz of LSG spray, adds a bit of shimmer.

Solid

Ugh!! I am so far behind on posting my new LOs & projects, that you might get 2 posts a week for the next little while!! A lot of these were made for a host of different challenges, including The Color Room. Unfortunately, I didn't get them uploaded on time! C'est La Vie!!! (see last few posts)

 
I decided to try my hand on working with a solid background!! Not too shabby for the first try!! I definitely learned a few things while doing this!! One thing for sure, if you are going to stamp and/or mist your background.....layout your project first, so you know about where you want to show the stamping/misting. You obviously can't see it, but most of my stamping is covered up by the papers!! LOL

So this LO is of my SIL when he was in Basic Training. I used SEI cardstock in light grey for the background. My papers are all leftover bits from other projects; including 7 Gypsies, The Paper Studio, Basic Grey and two, that I can't remember who made them!! I layered a piece of burlap (Michaels) over my pp layers, and then matted and raised my pic over top.

 
The clock is made from a Timmy/Sizzix die (def one of my fave dies), and is naked black chipboard from Wal-Mart. I grunged up a Tim grungeboard arrow with Distress Inks, Distress Stickles and some Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Sprays. The glimmer glass is from Tattered Angels (Swirlydoos kit). I alcohol inked the backside of the passport piece, and glued a piece from a vintage French dictionary under the luggage one. The postal stamps (layered), are from Layers of Color & My Mind's Eye.

 
My title is Basic Grey naked chippie alphas, which I painted with Folk Art paints, and then added Glossy Accents over top. The suede lace is from Horizon Group, USA. Wide eyelets are from We R Memory Makers.

 
Another Timmy grungeboard arrow, this time I alcohol inked, and then added Distress Inks over top. The background misting is all from Lindy's Stamp Gang. Stamping is done with StazOn Inks.

 
One more arrow, this time painted with Delta Ceramcoat paints, and then grunged up with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The sentiment is a Tim stamp!

I enjoyed working on this LO, and I will do this technique again. But I have to admit, it's not me!! I definitely prefer the 'grungy romantic chic' look.....but you can't always do that with guy pics!!!!

I do have a little sneak for you. It's the cover of a mini that I'm working on. The first pic was shot using natural light, and the second, using a flash....check out the glimmer!!!

 
 
A little teaser......I collaged my background, and used Lindy's Stamp Gang mist, and embossing powders over top. As soon as it's finished, I'll do a post & a tut on this mini.

You know, it's very strange....I think that I've made about 7 minis so far, and I've only shown you one! Probably because it would be easier to do videos, to show them off properly. Hmmm, might have to do that!!

Keep checking, I'll post another project this week, before I go back to work on Wednesday!! Oh....I have a RAK coming in the next week or so too!!

Wonderful For Scrapbudz

Hi everyone!! I'm a little late in putting up my DT post for the June Sketch Challenge at Scrapbudz .....I'm sorry.....it's been a trying couple of weeks! Anyways......here we go.

Our challenge this month is this gorgeous sketch by Vanessa

Love, love, love her sketches!!! And here's my take on it.......

 
I know, it's completely different!! But the essence of the sketch is there!! I just moved the elements around!! Plus, I only had one pic to work with for this LO, so I had to make the best of it!!

Papers are Graphic 45 & BoBunny. I circle cut the pink gingham paper, and then used my Martha Stewart corner punch on the edge. I got this idea from Lisa G at What A Beautiful Mess (do check out her blog for more great ideas, and tutorials). Next I layered 2 postcards from K & Co, which I promptly distressed with Tim's inks & tools. Here's a closeup.....

 
In between, and over the postcards, I added some Webster's Pages Bloomers, a die cut, a Tim Holtz charm and a whole lot of fussy cut flowers (G45 pp). I added some Ranger Liquid Pearls to the centers of the flowers.

 
Sorry, bad pic of the left side. I used Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Sprays over some TH Distress Ink on the Tattered Angels frame. It's too bad that you can't see the shimmer, cause there's a lot of it!!! I love LSG products!!! So I layered a fussy cut fairy over the frame and just touching my pic, and then added a few more flowers.

 
More LSG Sprays & Magical Micas, were used on the Kaisercraft birdhouse. I also added a piece of cream cardstock to the back of the cage......cause it was getting lost. I stamped over it with my all time fave script stamp from Hampton Arts & brown StazOn. A few pearls pn the bottom edge & a Timmy dangly bit (not the actual name). I fussy cut the fairy, and added Glossy Accents (Ranger) to her wings. I know, you can't see that either!

 
And here's my title....a K & Co diecut!! I used Lisa G's technique for adding ribbon & brads (MME).

So that's my project. I hoe you enjoy it as much as I do.

A Painting & An Auto Immune Disease

Hi everyone, I know I haven't been posting much lately. Been busy....working on some new things for my Etsy store. Which right now, has absolutely nothing in it!!! It's been too long since I've worked on my own stuff!!

Anyways, I have something different for you today..............my First Painting!!  Here it is.....

Yep....not bad for the first one!! And why am I painting? Well.....My DIL Carol, is one of those people that always wants to go DO things, instead of getting gifts for B-Day, etc. So, she'd been talking about taking a painting class.......and that's what I gave her for her B-Day!! We looked at going to Michaels, but they're ridiculous...first you pay for the class, then you have to buy all of your supplies!! And you know that when you start a new hobby, you can really spend some big buck$$ just getting started. Anyways, she found this place, not too far from us, called Alla Prima Creations, that has painting classes. Reasonably priced & everything is included in your cost!!! So we gave it a go!! Here's a few pics of us.....

Right behind is, is the painting that the instructor, Devin, did in the class! A very talented & sweet lady! I really enjoyed this class!!

We had a great time on her 're-Birthday' as she called it!! And this class was awesome!! I definitely want to go back for more!! Maybe next time, I won't be so tempted to try to 'fix' stuff on my painting!! -- on the right side of the mushroom...it's a little dark cause I tried to fix it....and ended up messing up the blending that I was so happy with! Anyways, I did learn a lot that night, and I want more!!!! Sooooo, if you happen to live near West Palm Beach, Florida.........go check out Alla Prima Creations!!

And now for the non-fun stuff...........

Did you see it? Do you know what I'm talking about? No? Here's a pic......

 

Now do you see it? That's not brown age spots on my arms, the white areas are de-pigmentation of my skin. It's called Vitiligo, probably better known as Michael Jackson Disease! Yep, it was true!!! So I just found out today. I'm okay with it, but I want it to stop spreading......so, I'll start getting PUVA (ultraviolet light) treatments in the next week or so. I'm using special cream, and I'll probably end up taking meds. I will need to be very careful in the sun.... those areas will now be more prone to skin cancer. So I'll be slathering on the Sunscreen....the strongest SPF I can get!! Definitely need that in Florida!

BTW, it's not life threatening. It's not contagious, though it can be inherited. A lot of people with Thyroid Diseases, have this condition. Yep, I have Hypothyroidism. So what is it? It occurs when the cells that give your skin its color are destroyed.  Treatments take a long time. Treatments don't always work. The last defense is to do what MJ did, and have the remaining pigment removed from your skin. Not something I want to do!

Does it bother me? Sometimes. I don't want it to spread to my face...yes I'm vain like that! And when people stare....you know they want to ask, 'what's wrong with you?'  That weird's me out. Otherwise, I really could care less. It's just color, or lack there of...LOL And I really thought that it was something much worse.....so I can live with the Diagnosis. And hopefully, the treatments will work, and work quickly!!

So that's all I have today. Hope I didn't bum you out. I just needed to talk about it......and it really must have been important for me to do that, cause I rarely ever post pics of me!! And especially not if I'm not wearing makeup, etc. Cause even with that, at best, I usually end up looking horrible. So, thanks for listening.

Life Is ......

Hi everyone,

I know it's been a while, since I last posted. Situation normal.......you know the rest!! Aside from my daughter & grand-son being here, and computer issues a while back, my camera went nuts!! Long story! Suffice it to say, that whenever I would try to upload the umpteen million (exagerating!) pics to my computer, I would be told that there were NO pics on my camera!! Ugh!!!!!! This has happened at least 3 times!! On the last go round, I had about 150 pics, that just disappeared right into thin air. Needless to say, I really got upset about it, and vowed that I was done with it!! So I went and bought me a new toy!!! Although I would love to get a really fancy pro or semi-pro camera....I decided to stick with a point & shoot.......a Nikon Coolpix S4100. 14 Megapixels, 3.0 LCD Screen, Wide 5X Zoom, Touch Screen, HD Movie capability & the MOST important feature......Vibration Reduction!!  LOLOLOL

And of course, with all of the fun I've been having...if that's what you want to call 'fun'...I haven't been playing along with Linda at Studio L3, for Grungy Monday!! Wow I can't believe how time flies. It just feels like it was yesterday when I made the first tag. Hopefully, I am done with fixing &/or replacing equipment and tools!

A little different, but it is my grungy chic style! All supplies used are all things Tim, of course!! The Distress Inks I chose, were Scattered Straw, Mustard Seed & Shabby Shutters.

I think it turned out pretty cool, and it matches perfectly with a mini album I'm working on!! More on that in another post!

And I also decided that I need to get back into doing more challenges, especially of the layout kind. And what's the best place to do that at? The Color Room!! So I gave it a go, and made this LO of my DGS for their Palette #62.

I love the color Orange, but it's definitely a challenging one to scrap with!! I adore how this one turned out!!

Papers are from Glitz Design....GORGEOUS!!!! Main frame is punched with Martha Stewart's Large Punch Set - Wild Flowers. Sooooo glad I got this one at Mike's, with a 40% off coupon!!

I used Wild Honey DI on the Tim pre cut grungeboard and added some Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals in Cocoa Bean Copper over top. Some Ranger Crackle Accents and heat set right away to get that aged bubble effect. Some hemp cord around a Tim pin, glued over a spinner, and a large flat back pearl for the head.

 
I handmade the orange flowers with the pearl centers. More Lindy's ....mist this time, in Tiger Lily Red Orange. The orange Rose & the small Cherry Blossoms are from I Am Roses.

 
Love these leaves!! Cardstock is Bazzill, cut with Tattered Flowers die, misted with LSG Opal Sea Oats. Then embossed with Starry Night from Sizzix. A little DI over top and voila.....gorgeous leaves!

 
The alpha 'U' is from Tattered Angels....more misting and distressing. I had a leftover chipboard flower that I had used some flocking on...orange...how cool is that!! (yep, still using up my older stash!!) And a chipboard piece I diecut with Tim/Sizzix's Hardware Findings. There's sooooo many layers on that piece, that I can't remember all of the products I used. Def Tim's DI and LSG's Starburst Sprays & Magicals. Some crackle medium, and then more of everything on top!!

Well, that's it for today!! So glad I finally got to play along with both of these challenges!! Now I'm off to upload them!! Oh I alsmost forgot to tell you......I got those gorgeous papers in my Swirlydoos kit!! Gotta check them out too!!
